Subnautica Interactive Map is a free, independent fan project for players of Subnautica (2018). It puts every important place in the crater on one fast map: lifepods, wrecks, Degasi bases, alien structures, cave entrances, leviathan spawns, data boxes, fragments and abandoned PDAs, each with the x, y, z coordinates you see in the game's F1 overlay and the depth you need to plan a dive.
Why this site exists
Most Subnautica maps either load slowly on a phone, lock progress tracking behind an account, or are only in English. We wanted a map that opens instantly on mobile data, works in eight languages (8 including English), remembers what you have found without asking you to sign up, and tells you honestly where a marker's position is exact and where it is only the containing wreck or base. Every design decision on the site follows from those goals.
What is on the map today
| Layer | Markers | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Locations (lifepods, wrecks, bases, alien structures, landmarks, caves, leviathans, thermal vents) | 249 | Exact wiki coordinates for all but three, which are labelled as approximate |
| Data boxes | 53 | At the wreck, lifepod or base that contains them |
| Fragment sets | 190 | One marker per fragment type per container |
| Abandoned PDAs | 55 | 28 at their exact spot, the rest at their container |
| Biomes | 37 | Traced outlines on the surface map, plus underground insets |
The sidebar also has a "Where to find" picker for 41 resources and 56 creatures, which highlights the biomes each one lives in, and you can add your own markers by right-clicking or long-pressing the map.
Where the data comes from
All game data is compiled from the community-maintained Subnautica Wiki: its Crater Map, Wrecks, Destroyed Lifepods, Degasi Seabases, Aurora, Alien Arches and biome pages. We do not copy data, images or text from other interactive maps. Facts such as coordinates are restated in our own words, and every marker links to the page it came from.
How every marker is checked
On 13 October 2026 we re-downloaded the current text of all 31 source pages and compared them with our data automatically. The results:
- 246 of 249 location markers appear on their source page with exactly the same coordinates, next to a row that describes the same place.
- All 35 wreck numbers match the game IDs listed on the wiki (for example
wreck10andscatter36). - All 10 lifepods sit in the biome the wiki gives for them.
- Coordinates mentioned inside descriptions, and in all seven translations, match the English source.
When the wiki gives no single point, for example for the Floating Island, a Sea Emperor inside its aquarium or a data box somewhere inside a wreck, the marker says so in its description instead of pretending to be exact. Items that only exist as random seabed spawns are not mapped at all.
How the map is made
The terrain is built from two community renders published on the Subnautica Wiki under CC BY-SA 3.0: the ambient-occlusion relief of the crater by hhrhhr and the surface biome map by Tueman. We recolour the biomes by depth, shade them with the relief and trace their borders. The Lost River and the Aurora come from Oldhauntdog's Lost River map, and the Inactive Lava Zone from UnderseaDee's lava zone map, both also CC BY-SA 3.0. Underground areas are drawn as insets beside the crater so they do not hide the surface. The whole map is a single image plus small data files, which is why it opens quickly on a phone.
The map images on this site are derived from those renders and are shared under the same license, CC BY-SA 3.0. You may reuse them if you credit the original authors and this site and share your version under the same terms.
Languages
The interface, biome guides and marker descriptions are available in English, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Portuguese, Korean and Italian. Item names follow the terms used in the game where we know them; some abandoned PDA titles are our own translations and may differ slightly from the in-game wording.
Corrections and updates
Game updates sometimes move or remove items, and the wiki is edited by volunteers, so mistakes are possible. If a marker is wrong, tell us the marker name and the coordinates you saw in game through the Contact Us page. We check reports against the game and the wiki before updating the map, and we re-run the full verification whenever the data changes.
